ISO standards provide an internationally-recognised certification in a particular area of your business and have long been recognised as the epitome of doing things the right way. Since 2014, Eurolink has been inspected annually against the ISO27001:2013 standards to review our security management systems, and this year is no exception. November saw us undertake reassessment, and for the first time also saw us take on the ISO14001:2015 certification, evaluating our environmental responsibilities too.
Both certifications start with an audit from an independent expert, who first reviewed our cybersecurity commitments for ISO27001, before considering our environmental practises for ISO14001. Last week, we undertook both assessments, with the auditor recommending us for certification in both. He left saying he was really impressed with our efforts, and that we were in “excellent shape”. This is all thanks to the Eurolink team and the manner in which they work and embrace the importance of security and environmental best practice. Huge great thanks needs to go to our Compliance Manager Marianne for driving this forward and helping to embed such an amazing culture. Thank you.

ISO27001 standard “specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an information security management system within the context of the organization. It also includes requirements for the assessment and treatment of information security risks tailored to the needs of the organization”. During the inspection, we shared our internal practices for assessment. We are ecstatic to be re-certified for the ninth year in a row, with no concerns at all highlighted by our auditor. We are also delighted that in passing with flying colours ourselves, we can offer assurance to our clients, as we replicate these best practices with the IT deployments and processes for our customers.
ISO27001 is just one part of our cybersecurity commitments, in addition to being Cyber Essentials certified, we are working towards the newest Microsoft Partner certifications, embracing the security enhancements that they offer to our clients. We also undertake regular penetration testing of our systems, subjecting them to targeted attacks that are specifically designed to infiltrate our systems, and we have so far passed every one. Ultimately, our priority is knowledge-sharing with our clients, up-skilling our team to ensure robust, safe and secure communications strategies for our clients. Although not assessed by the inspector, we were able to share our recent work in supporting clients to adopt multi-factor authentication, secure implementation of dispersed networks for our clients to provide hybrid workplaces, demonstrate our service improvements to combat emerging threats, and showcase our new cyber snapshot emails to support clients with their security. Anyone interested in our advice and support, cyber training, or our systems automation to add an extra layer of protection, should contact the team on 01453 700 800.

ISO14001: 2015
Although we have long embraced being a business with purpose, at the beginning of 2022, we enhanced our focus on our environmental commitments, signing the SME Climate Commitment pledge to “halve our emissions before 2030 and reach net zero by 2050”. In June 2022 our Senior Management Team made the commitment to drive the sustainability agenda forward with Marianne Carter at the helm of the project. First stop, ISO certification, with a view to assessing, shaping and delivering on our green goals. Marianne is detail-oriented and ambitious, and she set us six months to meet the ISO standards, attempting to complete it by the end of December 2022. Come November, and we’ve done it, six weeks ahead of schedule, and it is largely thanks to the dedication of Marianne and our team.
ISO14001 is a way of measuring and ensuring we have adopted an environment-first approach to decision-making, but it does not measure the extent to which we meet our goals or deliver on our commitments. For this, we have engaged with the GFirst our Local Enterprise Partnership, who are supporting us with empowered knowledge, as well as helping us to measure our current levels, and work towards net zero. At the same time, our team has created our sustainability working group, who have already presented management with sustainability improvements, including a recommended change to our shift patterns to support car sharing and commuting. Anyone interested in understanding our commitments, or who would like a supplier that aligns with their own goals, should speak to our team on 01453 700 800.
